“Working here is one of the biggest blessings in my life. Not only do I spend my days doing what I love, but I get to do it surrounded by a group of people who genuinely feel called to be here as well.”

Abuse Protection Policy

  • Safe Harbor

Safe Harbor, Johnson Ferry's Abuse Protection Policy, has been in place since 2002 and serves to provide a safe, secure environment to teach and care for children, students and elderly members and ministry participants. The goal is to protect children and the elderly from abuse, molestation or any type of inappropriate behavior by employees or volunteers in the church. In addition, the policy also serves to protect employees and volunteers from false accusations. Safe Harbor requirements include:

    • An application to serve or work at Johnson Ferry
    • Signature agreement of Safe Harbor policy and guidelines
    • Background check on every volunteer working with minors or elders AND every employee of JF with a three year renewal.
    • Three character references required on every volunteer and employee
    • MinistrySafe Abuse Awareness Training (national program) for ALL employees
  • Accountability

A reporting chain of several levels is in place and documented on our SAFE HARBOR program flyer located in kiosks around the church as well as in the Employee Handbook. Johnson Ferry is a mandatory reporter to the Department of Family and Childhood Services if reasonable cause to believe child or elderly abuse has occurred. Please join us in praying for God’s protection over our church, volunteers and staff, as well as any children and senior adults that are vulnerable in our sinful world.

Security

All candidates for employment or volunteer positions are required to complete a confidential Safe Harbor application, including references and permission for a background check.
